Feb. 17, 2011: McKesson today announced that it will partner with Parrish Medical Center to transform its information technology infrastructure to support clinical, financial and operational excellence. The 210-bed provider in Titusville, Fla., plans to implement a comprehensive McKesson solution enterprisewide to automate clinical and financial processes, support attainment of quality measures and enable coordinated delivery of care regardless of where it's delivered.
Feb. 17, 2011: Peninsula Regional Medical Center, the largest tertiary care facility in the Delmarva region, enlisted McKesson's Horizon Clinicals® to help caregivers dramatically reduce mortality rates caused by severe sepsis, the 10th leading cause of death in the United States. Since October 2009, the 362-bed hospital has decreased sepsis-related mortalities by 37%. The medical center attributes technology and process change to saving 77 lives and exceeding goals set by the Institute of Healthcare Improvement's Surviving Sepsis Campaign.

Feb. 10, 2011: McKesson's Horizon Ambulatory Care™ outpatient electronic health record (EHR) has received Complete EHR certification - deeming the software capable of enabling providers to meet the Stage 1 meaningful use measures required to qualify for funding under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). Tested and certified under the Drummond Group's Electronic Health Records Office of the National Coordinator Authorized Testing and Certification Body (ONC-ATCB) program, the EHR software is 2011/2012 compliant in accordance with the criteria adopted by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.

The designation officially deems the electronic health record (EHR) software capable of enabling providers to qualify for funding under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). The achievement makes McKesson the first major quality/inpatient electronic health record (EHR) vendor to achieve modular certification for clinical quality measures.
