Healthcare Reform

The 2010 Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) introduced the federal government's latest attempt to reform the U.S. healthcare industry. The legislation may evolve over time based on changes in government administration, but there's no doubt the PPACA, coupled with a severe economic downturn, has spurred many healthcare organizations to take a closer look at their operating models and business strategies. New models primarily are focused on operating on Medicare margins as well as the "Triple Aim" of better health, better care, and lower costs for the overall population.

Supreme Court Ruling - Affordable Care Act Stands

On June 28, the Supreme Court announced its decision to substantially uphold the constitutionality of the Affordable Care Act (ACA). The Court also upheld the Medicaid expansion but removed the threat that federal funds associated with previously covered individuals may be withdrawn.
